The Stone Age warrior died in the Similaun area, today's Val Senales glacier ski resort. The layer of ice which covered him preserved his corpse, his clothes and his tools so well that Ötzi has been on display at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano since 1998.
